Throughout English 101 I had been writing only to please my professor or to fill the basic requirement to pass English. I always felt that my writing ability was never enough for my professors throughout the previous years. They always wanted clear and concise essays, which for some reason was unreachable by me.

Many of my writing traits have changed since continuing my education at a four year university. English 101 was my first college level English class and was definitely an eye opening experience. I was able to see what my professors will expect from my work, while also growing as a writer.

The course requires 4,000 words of writing in no fewer than five writing projects, three of which are argumentative essays incorporating external sources. For information regarding prerequisites for this course, please refer to the Academic Course Catalog.

Reading and writing are essential for success in college and in life. In English 101, the student will further develop his/her skills in analyzing texts, processing that information in the context of his/her worldview, and articulating his/her conclusions clearly to a particular audience.
